What's
New for Version 5.5?
- New User
Interface. Even easier to use and with more design working space than
ever before. New sidebars are displayed only when you need them, leaving more
space to work on designing your survey or presentation.

-
Mail Merge. Pre-populate paper and web surveys and use responses to automatically
update the Keypoint address book.
-
Link to
an External Database. Removes the need to keep importing and exporting contact details by connecting
the Keypoint address book to an external database using an ODBC driver.
Changes to the database are then automatically reflected in the Keypoint
address book and likewise changes to the address book are automatically
applied to the database (although it can be set to read only).
-
Improved
Mixed Mode Surveys. Now that each version of a survey can have different answer labels it is
even easier to conduct mixed mode surveys (eg. paper, web and telephone
versions).
- New Range
Question Type. You can now create questions that only requires labels
at each end of the answer range, the rest can be left blank.

-
Answer/Question
Ordering. Multiple choice questions in web surveys can be set so that
the order of the answers change for each respondent. Ordering options include:
randomise, flip, rotate, creation and alphabetical. The same options are
also available to apply to questions in a question table.
-
Answer Piping. Use the answer from a question in a later part of the survey, for example
the previous answer can be used in the text of another question.
- KeyPoint 5.5 Scanning Improvements. Keypoint 5.5 offers a 30% boost in scanning accuracy compared with
previous versions of the software, and is over 60% more accurate than
other comparable survey scanning solutions - some costing up to 10 times
the price of KeyPoint.
Desktop Survey Scanning now requires significantly less memory; runs
complex form recognition tasks up to 25% faster than previously and
offers up to 30% greater accuracy on complex recognition tasks such as
ICR data extraction from survey forms.
- Import .GIF
Pictures.
- Paste Special. This new feature is very useful for stripping out formatting information
(HTML to text, or Word to text).
- Improved
Web Surveys. It is now even easier to produce great looking web surveys. The web survey
checks your respondents browser capabilities and then shows the survey appropriately
(Javascript or non-Javascript). It is still easy to add a link to a web
accessibility version too.
- New Presentation
Form Settings. A presentation form can now have settings such as decimal
places which can be applied to some or all tables and graphs.
- Improved
Presentation Tables. It is now easier than before to produce great looking
presentation tables.
- New Visual
Expression Editor. Produce powerful routing or validation expressions
in a new visual environment.
- Improved
Question Tables. Includes the following extra options:
- Colour
alternate rows
- Dividing
lines
- Set different
validation/calculation expressions for each question
- Tables
of calculated questions
- "With
Other" option
- Total option
for numeric tables
- Improved
Date and Time Questions. Respondents can now enter dates and times using the additional options of
a pop-up calendar or from drop down menus.

- Hidden Web
Fields. Web surveys can now transparently capture the start and end
date/times and work out how long the respondent took to complete the survey.
- Improved
Reliability. The way Keypoint stores data in its files has been improved making the program
even more reliable.
- 'Other'
Answer Option Available in Expressions. Users can easily produce routing
or validation expression which use the "Other" answer option.
- Wide Choice
of Tick Boxes and Ticks for Web Surveys. Web surveys can use the standard
web form tick boxes and ticks or use the extensive range available in Keypoint.
